tipi weekend?

From general interest today sounds like there are enough of us interested to arrange a tipi weekend by Whitehorse Hill in next couple of months. So far - everyone at the meeting...

Lou's film and graphic novels

We discussed Lou’s recent film that was influenced by her interest in graphic novels. It used the interior of a cafĂ©, a conversation, suggestions of other places, still images, a voice and music. The approach to storytelling in Lou’s film in Ovada last year combined with image suggesting/imagining to create an engaging, subtle and intriguing piece that gave us plenty to discuss. It was fun to be back at Ovada with Darla, Kay, Katy, Lou and Alex after the winter warmth of MOA.

After the film discussion Lou had arranged a table downstairs in Borders where we gathered a selection of Graphic Novels and settled happily, accompanied by the not so occasional loud speaker announcements.

We had a brief catch up as to what we are up to - there’s a lot - and we thought we’d reflect – possibly act - over the coming month how we use this blog (or forget to) and other options like twitter etc

Thanks Lou – it was a fascinating discussion – and I am beginning to grasp some of the range and possibility of the graphic novel

Next month having found the list….
Kay will be chairing for next three months and Claire is our May host (May 9th)

Cultural Olympiad - Artists Taking the Lead

We expect this Major Project strand of the Cultural Olympiad to be launched mid March. Twelve cutting edge artists' commissions will be created in 12 contrasting locations across the UK in the run up to 2012, showcasing the best creative talent in the UK. The commissions could take the form of festivals, installations, performances or events. They could take place in a city centre or up a hillside, within a concert hall or on a beach, but all of them will be fully accessible and celebrate the cultural diversity and creativity of the country.

Arts Council England SE is now looking for expressions of interest from artists to become Regional Artist Advisors for the SE project. Each of Arts Council England's nine regional offices of will select a panel of 6-8 Artist Advisors.

Full details on:
http://www.artscouncil.org.uk/pressnews/news_detail.php?browse=recent&id=1127

Note if you would like to have your work considered for one of the commissions you should not put yourself forward for the panel.

was just forwarded this - hopefully there is someway we can be involved / individuals get involved etc!!
